Spoofs come in all shapes and sizes. Caricaturing surf movies of the 1960’s – as well as B-horror films – Psycho Beach Party follows a group of teens in a southern California beach town as a serial killer slowly picks them off one by one. As the killer’s reign of terror continues, Florence (Lauren Ambrose) loses track of time through psychotic episodes and begins to wonder if she may have something to do with the deaths.
Siren tells the tale of Leigh (Vinessa Shaw), a young woman gifted – or rather cursed – with a powerful pheromone that makes men see her as the love of their life. She lives in self-imposed seclusion within the woods of her small town, visited only by unwanted suitors, until one day a mysterious war veteran named Guy (Robert Krazinksy) wanders onto her property.
Marvel’s “Ant-Man” hit theaters this weekend and seems poised to continue the studio’s hot streak. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is an ex-con who just wants to get his life together so he can see his daughter again. Desperate and unable to hold a job, he finds his way into the presence of Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), a former member of S.H.I.E.L.D and original Ant-Man.
No one could have anticipated that a talking horse could have made us laugh — or feel — that much. The Netflix animated original series “Bojack Horseman” premiered last August to a great deal of buzz, and did not disappoint. After experiencing critical success in its first season, Netflix recently announced that a second season will premiere this summer.
At a certain point during “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the titular villain makes the claim that “everyone creates the thing we fear.”. Within the context of the film, he refers to Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) creating the evil Artificial Intelligence (AI); further examination could show that Marvel Studios — and president Kevin Feige — have created something they fear as well: superhero fatigue.
